Maintenance-free dampers or better called spherical resonators, are typically installed at the suction mouth and discharge of API 674 or API 675 pumps.
The latter are used in place of bladder or membrane dampers with the following advantages:
1. A high reduction in delivery pulsations; the exact value depends especially on the characteristics of the fluid and on the line connections. Usually above 60%.
2. A complete customization, depending on the customer's request or project specifications.
3. There are no consumable or moving parts throughout the entire damper.
4. It is a completely maintenance free damper.
The construction materials can be customized and depend on the pumped fluid and the specifications of the end user; FOX standard is AISI 316 L stainless steel but they can also be built in: DSS (Duplex Stainless Steel), SDSS (Super Duplex Stainless Steel), Alloy-20, Hastelloy-C and painted carbon steel, according to the procedure FOX standard suitable for use in marine environments, corrosive or painted according to user specifications.
The volumes are available up to 5,000 liters; FOX always suggests sharing all necessary information so that you can select the most suitable volume for your pump.
The principle of the damper is resonance. The compensation frequency generated by the damper is reduced by the internal design of the damper and by the compression factor of the fluid (bulk modulus) which must be considered when selecting the spherical resonator.
The process connections (inlet & outlet flanges) are customized according to the customer's request, as well as their position. The standard is 180 ° but an angle of 90 ° can be provided for the output flange.
The same level of customization is also on the vents and drains, from our standard without blind counterflange. We can also include any blind counter flanges with relative linkage, bolts and spiral wound gaskets, based on the required process flange (RF or RTJ).
